A CHILD’S DREAM
By
Beckie Jo Petterson
One night a young child had a dream
that he was horseback riding.
And as he crossed the flowing stream
into the woods so green-
a gentle nudge with his feet
moved the horse into a gentle trot.
As the wind brushed against his face
a smile so huge grew.
With a gentle nudge yet once again
a gentle lope gave this child
a freedom he never before knew.
Just then his alarm sounded
and as he rose for the day,
a huge smile crossed his face-
as was always the case-on his lesson day.
Once at the farm with hugs he was greeted
as volunteers assisted in his mount-
for the freedom from his wheelchair-
to the movement of the horse-
his dream came true-
at Handi-Riders-of course!
